About APRU

Formed in 1997, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) is a consortium of 42 leading research universities in the Pacific Rim. APRU aims to foster education, research and enterprise (for example in the fields of economic development, urbanization, technology transfer, atmospheric pollution, environmental pollution, etc.) thereby contributing to the economic, scientific and cultural advancement in the Pacific Rim.

Member Universities

The APRU members are each respected as the leading universities in their regions in a wide range of research and educational fields. The president of each university is the university's representative to the APRU regarding the management of the organization.

The founding members of the organization are the universities of the presidents who attended the foundation meeting in Los Angeles, June 1997; however, those universities that were invited to the founding meeting but were unable to attend are also considered founding members. Other universities may be recognised as member universities with the support of three-fourths of the Steering Committee members.

Annual Presidents Meeting

Once a year, the presidents of the member universities meet on the campus of one member.
