AEARU (Association of East Asian Research Universities)

History

At a meeting held at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on the 8th to 9th of January 1996, Presidents from nine of the major research universities of the East Asian region established the "Association of East Asian Research Universities" for the purpose of promoting exchange among the member institutions. This two-day founding meeting was also the first general meeting of the association.

Mission



AEARU 2005

Open a forum where the major research universities of the East Asian region may share research results

On a base of mutual understanding, define areas in which cooperation may be possible. For example, student and researcher exchange; common curriculum development and credit transfer schemes; facilities, information, materials shared use; collaborative research; collaboration on developing solutions to problems faced by universities today; cooperation on holding international conferences and so on.
